Manufactured in Germany from high-quality recycled steel, the EnduoCargo system is fully recyclable. It comes with an abrasion-resistant cathodic dip coating, similar to that found in the automotive industry, specifically to maximise its long-lasting corrosion protection, even under challenging conditions and heavy loads.
The system features the ETG (EnduoToothGeometry), a special, patented tooth profile and the DET (DualEngagementTechnology), a patented technology that reduces wear and friction by preventing the chain from “rolling in the chainring’s gulley”. It also includes the EnduoHD HeavyDuty chain, which is suitable for bikes built in accordance with the ISO4210, EN15194 and DIN79010 standards.
Meeting the highest standards
The components are designed to meet the highest requirements of modern e-cargo motors and to optimally absorb the loads in the drivetrain, even on very heavy cargo bikes. This is possible because EnduoCargo specifically uses special industrial-grade chains that significantly exceed the performance characteristics of normal bicycle chains. These high-strength chains are certified under ISO606 and manufactured in Germany (CN500 chain) and in Taiwan (the new CN300 chain).
Christoph Hesterberg, head of Enduo Mobility, explains, “The chains have been intensively tested for durability and mileage with two of our major testing partners: Iwis, a German industrial chain manufacturer, and the University of Newcastle. It has also undergone long-term field testing with our customers with astonishing results.”
Clear increases in performance and cost-savings
EnduoCargo has been in continuous operation at DPD UK (Absolutely Couriers) for more than 2.5 years now, and has significantly outperformed the previous chain and belt drive systems that were being used. The company has vigorously tested the system out in all weather conditions, and they found that it had performed exceptionally well.
In fact, DPD UK has managed to surpass the 30,000 km continuous mileage benchmark amidst harsh and subtle weather conditions, a rarity in comparison to conventional drivetrains, and the good news is that the system is still running and so far, has shown very little, if any, sign of wear.
The benefits this has brought to the company has not only been to cut maintenance costs by huge margins, but it has also greatly reduced the downtime of the bikes in their day-to-day delivery operations; a factor that is particularly important in the B2B fleet sector because it offers enormous saving potential for a company.
Overall, EnduoCargo's combination of high-quality materials, innovative and ground-breaking design features, as well as rigorous and ongoing testing has resulted in a reliable and efficient system for e-cargo bikes, which is particularly beneficial for B2B fleet and B2C Commuting Bike operations. The system guarantees longevity and sustainability as well as ease of maintenance and is known to outperform other drive concepts – even when it comes to heavy loads.
Christoph Hesterberg remarks, "We’re really proud to be making a significant contribution to improving Last Mile Mobility and making it even more attractive as an alternative to petrol-fuelled deliveries – thanks to lower maintenance costs.”
