Vélovak 2019: what to expect and why it is the Benelux number one trade show

September is all about purchasing new products and services for retail. In other words, it is the time of the year to discover new products and services. For Benelux retailer the trade show Vélovak is the best spot.

Over the past months the Vélovak team put a lot of effort into getting an interesting and diverse line-up of exhibitors for two-wheeler retailers. "We succeeded", states Head of Events, Mascha de Bruin. "We see more and more companies acknowledging the great efficiency of the B2B Vélovak platform. As a result, we see a growing confidence in Vélovak. All together this results in the presentation of a wide range of products and services that are essential for every Benelux retailer.”

Range of products

The products and services on display of over 200 distributors and brands include bicycles, accessories, shop interior, workshops, retail services. During this year’s edition visitors can also discover the new scooters, mopeds and parts. Furthermore there are providers of software, insurance, product photography, promotion material, fire-safe cabinets  for e-bike batteries and gps systems.

New companies

Many new companies are participating in Vélovak 2019, for example ABUS, ANWB, Bimas Bike, Darfon Europe, Jan Janssen Fietsen, King Verzekeringen, Schwalbe and Verduin Agency. Of course there will also be companies that joined last year, like 2moso, Cube, DutcheBike, FietsNED, ICC, Juncker Bike Parts, Louis Verwimp, SKS Germany, Veldia and Vincere Insieme. Sessions for visitors

Apart from having almost 100 exhibitors, the Vélovak organizers and trade magazine Tweewieler/Bike Europe are setting up sessions every day.  These are especially interesting for entrepreneurs and mechanics in the bicycle industry. Multiple themes will be discussed in the Tweewieler Knowledge Theater.

Vélovak 2019Exhibitor DENIOS, together with DNV GL, the testing and certification organisation, will talk daily about safety prevention concerning lithium-ion batteries. Trendwatcher Deborah Nas, on behalf of OOMT, will discuss how to make trends into opportunities for your company. Founder of Fietsmarketeer and editor of Tweewieler, Jeroen Rietvelt, will provide visitors with several practical marketing tips on how improve their findability and the visibility of their shop.

Last but not least, Mark Langenkamp, on behalf of Juncker Bike Parts, will give visitors numerous tips on how they can have a better return on investment of their outlet and workshop. Check out the website for the complete overview. Note: all readings are in Dutch.

New at Vélovak is the Vélovak Innovation Square

The Vélovak Innovatieplein (Vélovak Innovation Square) together with media partner Nieuwsfiets and several design studios will present a few innovations which will give the retailer a sneak peek into the future. In other words, important changes for the industry which the retailer could expect in a few years. “So, come and see it, a must for every retailer,” says Mascha de Bruin.

Best bicycle mechanic of the year

Vélovak 2019 will include ‘Best bicycle mechanic of the year’ competition. At the Vélovakman Arena you will be able to see the best bicycle mechanics competiting. The participants already prepared themselves during the preliminaries at Juncker Bike Parts show in De Fietser (Ede, the Netherlands). On Sunday September 22nd and Monday September 23rd the participants will battle against each other for the finals. This exciting final will take place on the last day of the trade show, Tuesday September 24th. The competition will be coordinated by Tweewieler Academy training center.

Vélovak will take place on Sunday September 22nd, Monday September 23rd and Tuesday September 24th in Evenementenhal Gorinchem. This location is easily accessible via the highways A27 and A15.

UK cargobike sector claims fair share of €115 m. fund to replace vans

LONDON, UK - The British capital has seen a 63% increase in cargo bikes from 2022 to 2023 according to analysis by Clean Cities. Not surprisingly the cargobike industry campaigns for a fair share of the €115 million fund which has been committed by Transport for London for businesses to scrap polluting vans. None of these millions have been dedicated to accelerate the uptake of cargo bikes.
