Austrian e-bike sales crack 200,000 units barrier for the first time

VIENNA, Austria - E-bike and bicycle sales volumes in Austria had leveled off at around 400,000 units in the past 10 years. In 2020 the market situation changed drastically and this was by no means solely due to COVID-19. For the first time the market came close to the 500,000 unit threshold.

Mixed fortunes in Austria as bicycle sales drop but value rises

VIENNA, Austria - With a Corona-related delay, the Austrian Association of Sporting Goods Manufacturers and Sports Equipment Suppliers (VSSÖ) presented its latest year 2019 bicycle and e-bike statistics. It can be best expressed in the crisp short formula, 'units down, value up'.

Austria's (Electric) Bike Sales Reaches Record Highs

VIENNA, Austria - 2018 wasn't only a good year for bicycles in Germany, but also in neighboring Austria. The main trend here is the same as in many other European countries: e-bikes, e-bikes and e-bikes. Growing to a 33 percent market share (2017: 29 percent), Austria is now one of the biggest EU e-bike markets; in fact, the third largest (behind Belgium and the Netherlands and before Switzerland and Germany).

E-Bikes Rocked Austrian Market in 2017

VIENNA, Austria - Good News from Austria. With total sales of 120,474 e-bikes the 'e' category reached a 29.1% share in the total bicycle sale of the country in 2017. According to industry association VSSÖ 'electric' is growing to make up a third of Austria's market.

Austrian E-MTB Sales Skyrockets

The outlook of the Austrian bicycle industry is very positive due to skyrocketing e-bike sales. Nevertheless the overall market decreased last year by 2.8%.
