KASSEL, Germany - After company founder Bernhard Rohloff passed away in May the shareholders of Rohloff AG have now appointed a new supervisory board. The new board of the internal gear shifting expert now consists of Katja Lubitz, Constantin Ziehe and Ernst Brust.

Bike24 reports Q3 sales drop but foresees comfortable inventory level

DRESDEN, Germany - German e-commerce outlet Bike24 Holding has reported a 16% drop in total sales to €61.1 million in Q3, despite full bike sales seeing a 26% upturn due to an 'expanded brand portfolio'. In addition, the margin improvement initiatives continue to show positive development during the third quarter of 2023.

Signa Sports United takes drastic steps to face economic headwinds

BERLIN, Germany - Online vendor Signa Sports United is taking instant action to face continuing macroeconomic headwinds, oversupply in the market and severe liquidity and profitability challenges. The company announced a series of restructuring measures including the termination or winding down of non-performing assets, the rightsizing of under-performing business units as well as the evaluation of disposals of non-core assets.

Tata subsidiary invests in R&D to enter European market

LUDHIANA, India - Tata International bicycle subsidiary Stryder Cycles is planning to focus more on R&D to make bicycles for the international market. By upgrading its Ludhiana facility, the bicycle and e-bike maker hopes to entice more European customers and build on its growing domestic potential.

SVETA NEDELJA, Croatia - Porsche eBike Performance is currently looking at locations for its own e-bike motor factory in Europe, the company has confirmed to Bike Europe. Furthermore, in a turnaround from previous announcements, the high-tech brand Greyp Bikes will be discontinued and the technology absorbed into Porsche's other activities.

Pierer New Mobility dis-invests R Raymon

Pon partners with VW to push bike leasing in Europe and US

MUNICH, Germany - Volkswagen Financial Services has acquired a 49% stake in Pon Holdings bike leasing subsidiary Bike Mobility Services (BMS). The partnership aims to focus on accelerating the expansion of bike leasing in Europe and the US. No details have been given on the purchasing price.

Pierer Mobility reports revenue increase despite difficulties in...

WELS, Austria - In the first six months of 2023, Pierer Mobility AG achieved a new record revenue of €1.39 million, up 20.2%, compared to 2022. However, "the bicycle market as a whole is characterised by major changes. The consolidation that has already begun and is expected, will have profound effects on the entire bicycle industry," the motorcycle and e-bike specialist warns.

FREIRACHDORF, Germany - Müsing manufacturer Radsportvertrieb Ditmar Bayer GmbH is another bicycle company which has fallen into financial difficulties. On Wednesday August 23rd, the responsible district court Montabaur officially announced that the German company has filed for insolvency in self-administration.
