BRUSSELS, Belgium - High sales figures have dominated industry news and this is confirmed by the latest COVID impact survey of Cycling Industries Europe (CIE). Bicycle, parts and accessories companies are showing over 30% higher revenues in the first quarter of this year compared with 2020. The CIE Impact survey shows how these numbers are flowing through to other business indicators.

'EU states not meeting cycling's potential in Covid recovery plans'

BRUSSELS, Belgium - Only six European member states are properly integrating cycling into their National Recovery and Resilience Plans, new analysis by the European Cyclists' Federation (ECF) shows. While Belgium has championed cycling by allocating €473 million for infrastructure, etc, cycling is noticeably absent from Germany's agenda.

BRUSSELS, Belgium -Cycling Industries Europe's 2021 Summit will bring together leading companies of the cycling industries with key Brussels stakeholders. Top industry leaders will take to the virtual stage on April 22, alongside senior EU officials to show the leading role of cycling businesses in driving European growth in COVID recovery, green jobs, new mobilities and digitalization.

BRUSSELS, Belgium - In a joint statement CONEBI, CIE and ECF welcomed the recommendations made in the study on the e-bike and e-cargo bike sector. TRL (Transport Research Laboratory) carried out the study on behalf of the European Commission on the safety of Personal Mobility Devices (PMD).

CIE launching new expert group to promote cycling innovation

BRUSSELS, Belgium - Cycling Industries Europe (CIE) is launching a new expert group. The Cycling Innovation Network (CIN) is a membership-led initiative, open to companies of all sizes. The digital launch of the group will take place on 24th March.

Women in Cycling platform aims for inclusive and diverse cycling...

BRUSSELS, Belgium - Women in Cycling is a new initiative being launched by a coalition of industry organisations and NGOs which aims to help women to get more visibility, impact and leading roles in the cycling sector. Officially launched with a kick-off session on 24th February, the group aims to "get women in all the places where decisions are made," explained Lauha Fried, policy director of Cycling Industries Europe, one of the initiators of the platform.

'E-bike industry needs to invest to meet projected growth'

BRUSSELS, Belgium - Three European cycling industry associations announced a new forecast that the e-bike and bicycle market is expected to expand by almost 50% in 2030 compared with 2019. Taking the current supply chain problems into account, this projected market expansion requires substantial investments to increase component production as well as assembly capacity in the near future.
