Spain retains buoyant bicycle production and export value

MADRID, Spain - Bicycle exports from Spain to the rest of the world remain well above pre-pandemic figures and show a positive trade balance, according to provisional data from the Ministry of Industry and Tourism. Although production figures in the country are dipping compared to last year, bicycle production in Spain also remains above the levels achieved in 2019.

Taiwan's top 3 face further sales and profit slumps in Q3 results

TAIPEI, Taiwan - Taiwan's top three bicycle and e-bike producers Giant Manufacturing Company Limited (Giant Group), Merida Industry Co., Ltd. and Ideal Bike Corporation have presented their Q3 financial results. All three are mainly affected by the sales and profit slumps in the valuable western market.

Spanish bicycle production slows down quickly to adjust to market...

MADRID, Spain - In line with all market expectations, the production volume of the bicycle industry in Spain decreased by 34.7% last September compared with 2022. This major decline can be regarded as a correction on the COVID related boom. Production and sales volumes are still above 2019 levels.

Chinese bicycle industry in search of compensation for export slump

Europe's bicycle imports hit hard by excess inventory

BRUSSELS, Belgium - The sudden increase in bicycle imports by EU countries in 2022 has come to an abrupt ending. Since the rising popularity of the e-bike, bicycle sales have decreased step-by-step and this process continues in 2023, as the latest import statistic show.

EU e-bike import volume declines as expected

BRUSSELS, Belgium - For the first time, the total value of e-bikes imported into the European Union exceed €0.5 billion between January and July this year. Contrary to all outlooks and forecasts the market performance of the high-end segment was very good.

ZEIST, the Netherlands - In the first half of this year, bicycle sales took place at a normal gross margin on average in the Netherlands. At the same time Dutch retailers are struggling with sky high inventory levels. This was reported by H&L Accountants from its hundreds of IBD customers in the Netherlands.
