AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands - Retail giant Decathlon and KwikFit are starting a partnership in Amsterdam for the maintenance and repair of Decathlon bikes and e-bikes. The sports retailer has three stores in the capital, only two of which have bike repair workshops. Now, Decathlon customers can also visit the centrally located KwikFit location. If successful, a national roll-out is on the cards.
PARIS, France - Bike-leasing company Vapaus Group has announced the integration of France's Azfalte, a corporate cycling company boasting a 250-client portfolio. Calling France "Europe's strongest growth potential," Vapaus Group says it's excited to explore international growth with Azfalte, hoping to achieve one million new riders in the coming years.
COPENHAGEN, Denmark - "All operational activity has ceased," reads the email from Lasse Almgren, the CEO of the Danish start-up known as Pentalock. The company, under the name of Danish Mobility System 1 ApS, filed for bankruptcy on August 11.
HEERENVEEN, the Netherlands - In a new move to better its financial position, Accell Group is further centralising its production capabilities. After more than a century, bicycles will no longer be produced at its site in Heerenveen, the Netherlands. The factory is expected to close by the end of Q1 2026, and production will be integrated into existing manufacturing facilities in Hungary. The closure will lead to a loss of approximately 160 jobs.
DRESDEN, Germany - Online bicycle retailer Bike24 Holding AG has reported its strongest quarter to date, posting double-digit growth in sales and profits in the second quarter of 2025. The company's CEO and founder, Andrés Martin-Birner, attributes the company's continued financial success to a number of company-wide decisions.

SCHRAMBERG, Germany - The market shows initial signs of a measured rebound, though the improvement still has yet to extend across the entire supply chain. The manufacturer of e-bike drive components, hGears reports that, "the sales volume of e-bikes in Europe during the first half of 2025 is estimated to be roughly on par with the previous year, but European e-bike production has not recovered as expected."
AMSTERDAM, the Netherlands - Despite still being in the negative, Swapfiets has reported significantly reduced losses last year. The Amsterdam-based company, and subsidiary of Pon Holdings, recorded a net loss of €14.2 million in 2024 — 14% less than the previous year.
GDANSK, Poland - Polish manufacturer 7Anna, owner of the cycling brands Rondo, NS Bikes and Creme Cycles, has filed for insolvency. A Polish industry leader in recent years, the 24-year-old company had become known for its diverse range of bikes, from Rondo's gravel bikes to Creme's urban riders. "We are in ongoing talks with investors and we have strong hopes that these negotiations will end successfully. If this plan works out, our brands and team will be able to continue moving forward, and we may even shift into fifth gear," explains founder Szymon Kobylinski in an update on the company's status.
BRUSSELS, Belgium - The European bicycle industry is losing a key face in Brussels. Manuel Marsilio has officially stepped down from his position as general manager of the Confederation of the European Bicycle Industry (CONEBI). BERLIN, Germany - Brose SE has completed the transfer of its e-bike drive business to Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. For the Japanese company, this acquisition is part of its efforts to establish a strong position for competitiveness and achieve the business growth outlined in its management plan. Yamaha paid approximately €30.6 million in cash for the e-bike operation.
GENEVA, Switzerland - The globally operating testing, inspection and certification company SGS announced its expansion in the bicycle and e-bike sector with the takeover of EFBE Prüftechnik GmbH and EFBE Co., Ltd. EFBE was the tenth takeover in line since January this year for SGS.

ROVERETO, Italy - An additional funding of €1.6 million, following a previous pre-seed investment of €1 million raised from shareholders including Trentino Invest, makes it possible for Bikeflip to initiate further European expansion. "This investment confirms confidence in the project, supported by significant growth metrics in transactions and the availability of various bicycle models on the platform," says Bikeflip CEO Andrea Maranelli.
MILAN, Italy - Following a €500,000 round in 2023, Bikeroom - the Italian online marketplace for new and pre-owned bikes has closed off a new €3 million investment round. The funding will support the retailer's rapid European growth and help scale its commercial and technological infrastructure.
