BRUSSELS, Belgium - The Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission has started the discussion on the future methodology of carbon footprint rules for batteries. The new Battery Regulation foresees that all electric vehicles, including e-bikes need to have a carbon footprint declaration.

Europe takes next hurdle to finalise the battery regulations overhaul

BRUSSELS, Belgium - A provisional agreement on the overhaul of the EU battery regulations has been reached by the European Parliament and Council. The initial proposal was presented in December 2020 by the European Commission. The agreement reached on Friday 9 December still awaits formal approval.

BRUSSELS, Belgium - With the EU legislation concerning batteries currently being discussed in Brussels, the industry organization CONEBI has voiced its concerns on e-bike battery repairs. "CONEBI is a strong supporter of only using original OEM certified batteries on e-bikes, we highly discourage end-users to make use of any repair services," the industry association says in a position paper.

CONEBI participates in study on revision of EU battery legislation

BRUSSELS, Belgium - The European Green Deal also includes the intention to revise the European regulatory framework for batteries. The EU intends to set a worldwide benchmark for more sustainable and safe batteries. CONEBI's Neuberger E-Bike Working Group has closely analysed the EU's proposal for a new batteries legislation.

European Commission proposes to update Battery Directive

Cross-industry platform to support safe battery transportation

BRUSSELS, Belgium - A new information platform for the safe transportation, testing and packaging of battery cells, batteries, and vehicles and equipment containing batteries has been launched. BatteriesTransport.org is a joint industry initiative of eight industry associations for batteries and battery-powered products, including LEV trade association, LEVA-EU.
