BRUSSELS, Belgium - Cycling as a lever for economic growth was the key message of the CIE 2024 Summit on October 2, organised by Cycling Industries Europe in partnership with the Benelux Union. Over 200 attendees discussed a blueprint for cycling industry policies heeding the EU Declaration on Cycling's call for the 'development of a world class cycling industry'.

BRUSSELS, Belgium - The results of the 2023 Business Impact Survey surprised Cycling Industries Europe (CIE) who has conducted this holistic look at the state of the industry since 2020. According to the study, 52% of its members reported similar or better performance in 2023 compared with 2022.

Cycling Industries Europe CEO Kevin Mayne to retire

BRUSSELS, Belgium - Brussels based trade association and industry lobby group Cycling Industries Europe (CIE) has announced that Kevin Mayne, the founding Chief Executive of the organisation, is to retire in 2024. Mayne, one of the industry's most visible political figures will step down later in the year after handing over to a successor who will be appointed through a selection process which will start immediately.

With other results shedding light on diversity and inclusivity issues, a roadmap for change has been proposed.

This included a new guide to help the German bicycle industry report on their sustainability activities and the Cycling Industry Climate Pledge. On a national and international level there were repeated calls for all parties to work together. "We need to place collaboration at the core of our efforts," stated Alex Thun, CEO of Thun and Chair of CIE and CONEBI's sustainability expert group.
