UK cargobike sector claims fair share of €115 m. fund to replace vans

LONDON, UK - The British capital has seen a 63% increase in cargo bikes from 2022 to 2023 according to analysis by Clean Cities. Not surprisingly the cargobike industry campaigns for a fair share of the €115 million fund which has been committed by Transport for London for businesses to scrap polluting vans. None of these millions have been dedicated to accelerate the uptake of cargo bikes.

The news sparked response from industry peers worldwide as Erhard Büchel has been on the forefront of the industry for many years. Born on February 17, 1953 in Fulda, he took over the management of Büchel GmbH & Co. Fahrzeugteilefabrik KG, at the age of 23.
