Founded in 1996, Leader 96 is one of the largest Bulgarian producers and exporters of e-bikes (MTB, city, folding, trekking), focused on OEM. With 40,000 m2, an internal testing laboratory and 9 production lines, the factory capacity is 250,000 e-bikes per year, all according to European Quality Standards.
The company is busy offering models oriented specifically towards urban and mountain environment, with a variety of looks, technical characteristics and overall performance.
In advance: innovative investment project
Leader 96 is launching a new production line with a one-of-a-kind process organisation model, ensuring an agile and cost-effective workflow. With no operational stock and fully integrated Quality Assessment, the production line is friendly and highly progressive in terms of supporting the operators.
All sub-assembly stations are gathered closely and operate on-time, following the Kanban model. From battery, handlebar and fenders to wheel assembly, operations are synchronised and self-assessed, and at the end of the line is the fully packaged e-bike, ready for dispatch. This production model will be further expanded and applied on a larger scale in a new facility, which is expected to open in the beginning of 2023. So, keep an eye on this one.
E-bike collection at Eurobike 2022
Leader will be presenting an expanded collection of models, which focus on stability, efficiency, and ride optimisation. On a global scale, e–bikes are improving faster than ever before. Lower suspension and bigger tyres for MTB, all cables integrated into the cockpit, and upgraded frame geometry – these are the highlights of 2022, aimed at well-balanced quality of ride, neat aerodynamic look, and fun!
MTB e-bikes
The MTB e-bikes are equipped with full suspension or hard tail, battery capacity from 400 to 625Wh, and motors predominantly central position, overwhelmingly using Bosch and Ananda systems. All e-bikes are uncompromised in quality and versatile in wheel standard options – 27,5” or 29”. The frame is carefully selected from the popular demand of the market, and the high-quality components ensure a safe and pleasant ride.
WILD series
With the WILD series, the company achieves impeccable performance at a very reasonable cost, using the newly introduced Ananda mid-motors M81 and M230. ModelWILD FULLY 10 is an example of reliance and empowerment. The amazing geometry of the frame is combined with SR Suntour fork, XCR 34 Boost travel and air shock, perfectly tuned to fit in a perfect composition. The Aanada mid motor M230 with integrated opt-capacity Power Tube battery 468Wh deliver confidence and cool experience on tough trails. The e-bike is equipped with the Shimano Deore 10 speed system, widely tested and customer approved, while the Shimano hydraulic brakes ensure seamless control and poise on the road.
City/Trekking collection
The City/Trekking collection represents the master strength of the company, with various frame designs ranging from classic to modern, popular, and authentic. The speed systems are offered in 7 to 11 speeds and batteries from 400 to 500Wh. A variety of handlebars, stems and forks are present as a final touch to the collection to attract the eye of the eager consumer.
The new urban series is 3in1 – innovative decision, reliable system, and smart assist. Urban 8L model is the ladies’ ultimate partner around the city. The 28” aluminium frame is carefully selected and combined with Zoom 860S fork, to provide steadiness and comfort. The low step-through design helps easy mounting and dismounting. The e-bike is fully equipped with fenders, lights, rack and a kick stand. The Ananda mid motor M60 offers excellent assistance, and the Greenway Power Tube battery 13Ah 468Wh is exactly the solution for a stress-free urban ride.
Shimano Acera 8 gears and the hydraulic Shimano brakes offer consistent optimisation and stopping power. To ensure more comfort and riding pleasure, the model is offered with Schwalbe Big Apple tyres and Selle Royal Plus saddle.
MOTION series
The MOTION series is enriched with 2 new e-bikes, MOTION 8 being the top unisex city model, with excellent features for impeccable urban performance. The ergonomic step-through frame, with 28” wheels, perfectly matches the selected Zoom suspension fork. The integrated battery is economic type 468Wh and is combined with Ananda mid motor and colour display. Shimano Acera 8 gears ensure optimal support in various landscapes and sceneries. The hydraulic Shimano MT200 brakes help achieve total control by the rider, and blissful comfort, while the fenders deliver precious protection from impurities on the road.
COMPACT series
F COMPACT is a representative of the Folding line - a friendly, ergonomic, and compact solution for daily city traffic. The 20” light aluminium folding frame, with bottom bracket interface, ensures excellent stability of the model. With the grippy and resisting Schwalbe Race Guard tyres, it provides exceptional comfort for its users. The bike is equipped with Shimano Claris R2000 8 gears combined with MT200 hydraulic brakes, which produces extra confidence and control. The folding mechanism is safe and comfortable to pack even in small storage spaces. The model is also available with internal gears, F COMPACT I-G.
