Velo opens production facility in Vietnam

Velo started operations in their new Vietnam factory in October 2022. Located in Protrade Industrial Park just 20km from Ho Chi Minh City, this area is close to numerous bike related companies. The brand new 280,000 square metre facility has the capability to produce a full range of Velo products, including saddles and grips.

Located in the heart of Southeast Asia, Vietnam was the optimal location for Velo to serve the region. Its proximity to other major Southeast Asian markets like Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia made it an ideal manufacturing hub for an improved supply chain to customers and assembly facilities. “By opening Velo Vietnam, our fifth production facility, we are trying to shorten the supply chain and service our South East Asia customers better,” said Ann Chen, VP of Velo.

Bicycle industry in Vietnam

The bicycle industry in Vietnam has been growing steadily over the years. Vietnam is one of the largest producers and exporters of bicycles in the world, with a rapidly expanding domestic market. The industry began to develop in the 1990s, when Vietnam began to open up its economy and attract foreign investment. Today, there are numerous bicycle manufacturing and assembly companies in the country, employing over half a million workers.

Velo Vietnam is major player in global market

The majority of the bicycles produced in Vietnam are exported to other countries, particularly the United States and European countries. Vietnam's bicycle industry is known for its high-quality products at competitive prices. This has helped it to become a major player in the global market.
